Fire crews tackle large wood fire near Colchester

Fire crews tackled a large wood pile blaze near Colchester last night (Friday, February 5).A team of 10 firefighters, from Wivenhoe and Colchester, were called to Haven Road, Wivenhoe at 5.44pm. The pile was 20m x 20m and was 80 per cent alight. Crews used two spray plates (unmanned jets) and one covering jet to control the fire and protect surrounding area.
