A fire has ripped through a family home in Braintree after a remote controlled car battery burst into flames.Two fire crews from Braintree were called to the fire in Chapel Hill at 12.49am this morning (February 9) and used breathing apparatus to enter the first floor bedroom. The blaze started while the toy car was charging earlier this morning and was extinguished by 1.30am using a hose jet reel; the house had working smoke alarms which helped to raise the alarm.No injuries were sustained.
