A HISTORIC car challenge which first took place 101 years ago heads to Maldon via Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome this week.The Layer Marney Cup, a fuel efficiency trial, starts in Southend and goes through Shoeburyness, before arriving at Stow Maries and continuing on to Maldon's Promenade Park.On Sunday, lunch will be served in the officers' mess at the famous First World War airfield, and the cars will also be weighed there before continuing their journey.Sheila Charrington, the owner of...
