There are heavy delays on the A130 between Chelmsford and Basildon due to a car fire.
Robert Jerome is caught in the traffic and said he saw two fire engines and several
police cars speed down the hard shoulder to attend the scene.
"My engine is switched off and people are getting out their cars to see what's happening," he said.
"A recovery trailer has just gone past to recover a vehicle presumably."
