A van driver escaped unharmed after crashing into the back of a First Essex bus.A white Ford Transit van collided with the single-decker at about 3pm on Tuesday in Chignal Road near the junction with Melbourne Avenue.Essex Police diverted traffic around the scene.A bystander, who asked not to be named, said: "It was quite a smash.
