One of the two tunnels at the Dartford Crossing is likely to stay shut throughout the morning rush hour due to overrunning engineering works.
There are already long delays on the anti-clockwise M25 heading from Kent into Essex as a result of the closure.
Traffic is delayed for eight miles and stretches back as far as the Swanley Interchange at Junction 3.
All vehicles up to the height of 4.8m are being diverted through the left hand tunnel, which remains open.
