Eight fire crews spent six hours battling a colossal rubbish heap fire in Essex this morning.Crews were called to the blaze in Widdington, about six miles north of Stansted, at 2.39am this morning (May 19) when staff on the landfill site noticed that a 10m tall waste heap had caught on fire.Two crews from Saffron Walden, along with crews from Stansted, Thaxted, Newport, Halstead and Wethersfield were sent to the scene by Essex County Fire and Rescue Service (ECFRS).
